wheat intolerance

Gluten Intolerance

Wheat intolerance when you dream about eating toast, cakes and chocolate… absolute nightmare…. And it is a non-autoimmune disorder which falls under the same spectrum as Celiac disease. The symptoms are very similar to that of Celiac disease, this is a genuine disorder, and it is not the case that the eaters at your table are picky eaters, it is genuine and can cause lots discomfort. They won’t be accompanying us to the pub ‘The Bar lee’ then?

There is research to show that the cases of Gluten intolerance and Celiac disease are on the rise. There were reported to be 15% of US Population suffered with the condition last year alone. The same could be said for many western countries as they tend to suffer many of the same illnesses as the US populations do.

So how do you recognize the signs of the condition when your child mentions it? Listen to him? Yes, but after that?
      ·         Your child is complaining of stomach cramps
      ·         Diarrhea
      ·         Weight loss, delay in developing as other children are
      ·         Offensive smelling stools
      ·         Feeling sick or actually being sick
      ·         Constipation
      ·         Lack of Iron in the blood – Anemia
      ·         Fatigue, this is down to the lack of absorption of the minerals and nutrients
      ·         Intestinal ulcers, mouth others or digestive ulcers. A doctor will detect these
      ·         Osteoporosis

There is a belief that Gluten Sensitivity can cause Autism in children, however do not get panicked about this, this has not been proven as yet, it is only here say and rumor. However, there does seem to be some serious discussion into the prospect of removing the Gluten ingredients from an Autistic children’s Diet.

Children who have had a firm diagnosis that Gluten Intolerance is present do tend to show some mental signs that they are gluten intolerant such as:-
      ·         Irritability,
      ·         Forgetfulness,
      ·         Autistic similar behaviors such as throwing tantrums, lack of concentration and hyperactivity.
      ·         Lack of concentration issues
      ·         A level of Depression.

      Adults with Gluten intolerance

Adults suffering from intolerance to Gluten do not have symptoms which are really that much different to that of a child, but as you grow up, you perception on the world and how things effect you changes. This basically means that adults will see gluten intolerance in a completely different way to a child.

Unlike with children, it is a mother’s job and her intuition which kicks in when she notices anything wrong with her child. But she does not have her child telling her all the time how he feels so it tends to just appear. But with Adults, the symptoms can appear just as slowly as with a child or they can appear like a bat out of the dark.

When it comes to adults, it is hard to find out where the sickness, or the diarrhea or constipation is coming from as we all tend to eat foods which contain Gluten in every day two or three times a day if not more. So you cannot immediately pin point where this all started. The symptoms can last for hours, days or weeks…. Just to cheer you up.

If you think that you may have gluten intolerance or Celiac Disease then head off to your doctor and get checked out. Do not sit and suffer.
