What
are gluten intolerance symptoms?
Gluten intolerance and gluten
sensitivity is still a relatively new illness or condition which is still in
the process of being researched. There is a huge similarity when it comes to
gluten intolerance and Celiacs disease. The two are remarkably similar.

The symptoms of this condition
can creep up on you slowly or they can hit you like a lightning bolt, either
way they can make you feel very unwell sometimes. They can also be very
irritating and frustrating at times too. So what are the symptoms of Gluten

·

stomach pain and cramps
·
bloating
·
a combination of iron, vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency

· There have been people who have complained of neurological
symptoms such as muscle weakness, tingling in the hands and the feet; it was
thought to be connected to the fact that Celiacs disease was affecting the gut.
But this is not always the case. There is not always gut damage where the
neurological symptoms are concerned.
There have been times when
sufferers have been to their physician or doctor and have been diagnosed with
other conditions due to the fact that there are other conditions which have very
similar symptoms. Do bear in mind that you will not suffer all of the above
symptoms, this is just a list of the symptoms that come with the condition, but
you will only suffer from a few of them.
One of the conditions which are
very often confused with Gluten intolerance is IBS. IBS you do suffer stomach
cramps, constipation and diarrhea, sickness and nausea, headaches and vitamin
loss but IBS can be set off by not only wheat, but spicy foods, Orange juice,
rich foods and so on. There are many different triggers not just wheat and
Barley.
Gluten intolerance is known to
affect up to 15% of the population in the US alone, it is growing at an
alarming rate. There are about 500,000 people in the UK who have no idea that
they suffer from Gluten Intolerance. It is said to be one person in every ten
people suffer from Gluten intolerance, out of ten of these people only one out
of every eight of those people are children.
Surprising as it maybe, there
are many doctors and GP’s who do not know much about gluten intolerance, so
when you describe the symptoms they may not automatically be aware that gluten
intolerance is what is causing the problem. The only way to cure this condition
is to embark on a gluten free diet.
A gluten free diet has also been
known to help people who are IBS sufferers, this information researched by
Prof. Sanders from Manchester University only goes to prove that although the
information is limited, but they have claimed to have benefited from a gluten
free diet. Although it has not been proven, it might be well worth looking
into.
